Shotokan Connect instructors and members are eligible to take this unique first aid course, specially designed to cater for the injuries that could occur during martial arts training. The course includes consideration of subjects that are of direct relevance to martial arts instructors and includes paediatric first aid, the use of automated external defibrillators, and the latest CPR and Coronavirus recommendations.
Martial Arts, by their nature, present risk. Although the use of correct teaching and training methods can reduce the risk of injury during karate training, injuries do still occur. It is therefore a responsible precaution for instructors to have a basic understanding of what to do in the event of an injury. This course covers the basic response to likely incidents including contact injuries, cardiac arrest and allergic reactions. First aid is a straightforward skill to learn, and the training is delivered in a series of short videos with knowledge review questions to increase understanding. All the videos are filmed in a martial art setting and are based on challenges that you may face in the dojo.
The content of this course has been independently certified as conforming to universally accepted Continuous Professional Development (CPD) guidelines, comes with a Certified CPD Statement as well as a Certificate and, for online courses, an Evidence Based Learning statement.
