Professor Scarlett McNally awarded OBE 2026

Our very own Scarlett McNally has been recognised in the King’s New Years Honours list and has been awarded an OBE (Order of the British Empire) for outstanding contribution to Medicine, Surgery and the NHS.

 

Scarlett is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon whose work spans clinical surgery, leadership in health policy, education, and advocating for better population health.  

 

  • She practices orthopaedic surgery and is known for her expertise in improving health outcomes through exercise, diversity, and systemic improvements in care.

  • She serves as Deputy Director at the Centre for Perioperative Care and contributes to national policy discussions on health, workforce culture, and clinical efficiency.

  • She has been involved with professional bodies such as the Royal College of Surgeons of England (former Council member) and the Medical Women’s Federation.

 

Scarlett writes widely on health improvement, the NHS, patient-centred care, and workplace culture in medicine—including articles and columns in the British Medical Journal and reports on workforce and clinical care topics.

 

During the day Scarlett is a force to be reckoned with prefessionally, and by night is no different, training with the Red Lion SKC in Eastbourne.
